Bharatanatyam is believed to be the oldest of the classical Indian dances. In this course, students will delve into the key components that define this dance form: rhythmic footwork, intricate hand
gestures, subtle facial movements and expressions. Students will be taught a piece specifically constructed for the course that
deconstructs Bharatanatyam into its essential elements in order to build the dance from the base up, allowing a beginner to understand and explore this dance form. Each class will begin and end with a series of stretches based on the Hatha yoga tradition. |
