WD003 - 'Kuchipudi' Classical South Indian Dance

Description This class will introduce students to a beautiful, lyrical dance form of Andhra Pradesh. This ancient art is steeped in Hindu mythology and utilizes symbolic hand gestures and facial expression to relay stories and portrayals of the deities. Known for its intricate footwork, eye & neck movement, athletic grace and fast rhythms, Kuchipudi is one of the more lively classical dance forms of India. Students will focus on strengthening and stretching, mudras (symbolic hand gestures), eye and neck movement, expression, the basic steps of Kuchipudi, and yogic warm-downs.
